New
and Exciting Homeopathic Treatments for Tinnitus
As
you've probably learned, medical treatment for tinnitus is limited.
More often than not, that infernal ringing, whooshing, roaring and
whistling going on in your head has an unknown cause and your doctor
can do nothing to quiet those noises in your ears, save for a few minor
and well-intentioned suggestions.
Sure, having tinnitus
isn't like having cancer, heart disease or any number of other
life-threatening diseases, but it certainly can make your life
miserable at times. Particularly, sleeping times.
Where do
you look for ideas on how to treat the symptoms of your tinnitus?
Mostly, the home remedies and tinnitus treatments invented or co-opted
by other tinnitus sufferers. They're the heroes of modern-day
homeopathic treatment for tinnitus.
Because of these
tinnitus sufferers (I refuse to call them “victims” as they're too
fierce for that moniker), it is possible today to find some kind of
relief for the symptoms of tinnitus with variations of homeopathic
medicine. Here are some of the homeopathic substances that
practitioners recommend for various levels of tinnitus and accompanying
other ailments. Unfortunately, I can't recommend dosing levels – you'll
have to do some research on your own for that.
Calcarea
carbonica,
(impure calcium carbonate made from the middle layer of shells). If
your tinnitus comes with vertigo, this may be the treatment for you.
Other symptoms that may call for calcarea carbonica include cracking or
pulsing sensations in the ear. If you're unusually chilly, fatigue
easily or crave sweets as well, calcarea carbonica should be used.
Carbo
vegetabilis,
essentially “vegetable charcoal.”This remedy is generally used for
stomach upsets and the like due to its ability to soak up toxins (like
regular charcoal). Apparently it is also used for tinnitus when
accompanied by vertigo.
Chininum
sulphuricum. This homeopathic remedy might be
used if the tinnitus is extremely loud.
Cimicifuga,
a type of flowering plant. This remedy might work best for those who
are very sensitive to noise and also have back pain and muscle tension.
If you have problems with headaches and problems during menstrual
periods, this may be a good remedy for you.
Coffea
cruda,
which is actually unroasted coffee (with caffeine) and stimulates the
activity of all organs. Now, we know that caffeine can be a factor in
causing tinnitus. This may be an example of homeopathic theory “curing
like with like.” Several homeopathic experts say that coffea cruda can
be an excellent treatment for tinnitus! You've only got your tinnitus
to lose if you try it!
There is no guarantee of
accuracy or ability to help your tinnitus with any of these homeopathic
remedies. Always consult your physician first. Homeopathic remedies are
very dilute – full-strength, the raw chemicals may harm rather than
heal.
There are many more homeopathic remedies for tinnitus –
these are only a very few of the more popular ones. As I've mentioned
before, all tinnitus sufferers may not respond alike to individual
treatments – it will be up to you, the tinnitus patient, to experiment
and find the treatment that works for you.
Also, there
are a few "stores" on the internet that will sell you pre-mixed
homeopathic remedies - small bottles for huge prices. There is no magic
in the little bottles - a good bet woul be to visit your local holistic
or homeopathic store and purchase your medicines there. Not only will
you save a ton of money - you'll probably get some great advice, too!
